(New campaign, same dirty tricks. You'd think these people might have learned a thing or two from the total flop of Pete Ricketts' negative attacks against Sen. Ben Nelson in 2006. Obviously not. - promoted by Kyle Michaelis)
Is the Republican Party gearing up to attack Bob Kerrey's educational work at The New School in New York City? It looks like that just might be the case...
On September 11, the domain "BigAppleBobKerrey.com" was registered. The domain name was purchased anonymously, as you can see by doing a whois lookup. However, with just a little bit of detective work, we can see who is behind this web site. If you do an IP lookup on BigAppleBobKerrey.com (try it yourself here -- choose Lookup on the left column), you'll find that BigAppleBobKerrey.com points to the IP address 64.203.96.196.
And what happens if you surf to that IP? Take a look -- it's the National Republican Senatorial Committee! The NRSC hosts a number of its attack websites, including DontMarkWarner.com and FranklyFranken.com, on this IP address. Unlike those two sites, the NRSC has yet to launch BigAppleBobKerrey.com.
As I'm sure we all know, after serving Nebraska in the United States Senate, Senator Kerrey accepted a position as President of The New School, a university in New York City. Kerrey has served in this position since 2001. You can read more about his work at The New School here.
Now this is just a hunch, but I don't think the NRSC plans to use this site to praise Bob Kerrey. Clearly, they're planning to attack Senator Kerrey for taking the opportunity to help lead a university serving nearly 10,000 students. Should Kerrey's decision to lead a population of nearly 10,000 students be counted against him, just because that school happened to be located in New York City? I guess that's what the NRSC thinks. That might be the kind of attack that sounds good in a DC boardroom, but I don't know how well that's going to play here in Nebraska. |
