  • DNCC: Pictures from Wednesday and the Official Nomination

    by: Lisa Hannah

Members of the Nebraska Delegation waiting for Nebraska's turn in the roll call for nomination of the Democratic Candidates for President of the United States.

Lisa Hannah :: DNCC: Pictures from Wednesday and the Official Nomination
Senator Ben Nelson announces Nebraska's roll call votes: 3 for Clinton, 28 for Obama.

Our own Senator on the big screen at the convention during the roll call.

The big moment: Sen. Hillary Clinton calls for the suspention of the roll call and the approval of Sen. Barack Obama to be the nominee for President of the United States.

Nebraska's delegates as they witness history being made: The nomination of the first African-American as the Democratic candidate for President.

NDP's Eric Van Horn, State Senator Amanda McGill, and State Senate Candidate Jeremy Nordquist.

Former US Secretary to the UN, and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

Chelsea and Hillary Clinton taking their seats.

President Bill Clinton addresses the delegation.

Look who sat across the aisle from the Nebraska delegation during President Clinton's speach. It's actor Richard Schiff from The West Wing (and there are a lot of us who are big fans!)

Senator John Kerry addresses the delegation.

Another image from the convention floor.

Iraq War veteran, Major Tammy Duckworth, a hero that lost her legs and who's right arm was crippled when the Black Hawk helicopter she was co-piloting got hit by a rocket propelled grenade. She ran for Congress in 2006 and was the victim of underhanded attacks by Republicans, including trying to label her "unhinged". So much for supporting our troops. She was an amazing speaker.

Senator and VP Candidate Joe Biden gives his acceptance speech at the convention.

Joe Biden and Barack Obama at the end of the evening.

The Daily Show filming in the lobby at the end of the evening: Rob Riggle, Aasif Mandvi, and Wyatt Cenac.

...and I'll give you some new poll numbers.

CNN Poll from this morning (September 1):

    Obama     49
    McCain    48

    Reflects polling through Saturday night.

It's dead even guys.  Nice "bounce" from Denver.

    Have more pics to show?

CNN poll was taken on Aug. 31 (0.00 / 0)
    Aug 31 Polls
    Gallup                Obama (D) 48%  McCain (R) 42%
    Rasmussen         Obama (D) 49%, McCain (R) 46%
    CNN                   Obama (D) 49%, McCain (R) 48%

    So...it's dead even (0.00 / 0)
All within the margin of error.

Haven't heard you guys crowing about "landslides" lately.  What happened?

    [ Parent ]
    Gosh, I don't recall anyone talking about landslides! (0.00 / 0)
Most of us realize this is going to be a close election.  That's why we are working hard each and every day to elect our Democratic candidates, both local, state and national.

I would still advise people that, if you live by the daily tracking polls, you'll die by the daily tracking polls.  The RNC (however truncated) this week practically guarantees that McCain will have the polling lead by this time next week -- and possibly a sizable lead -- which will, however, then decrease over time.  My advice is to do what the Obama campaign does:  take the tracking polls with a grain of salt and keep your eye on the state-by-state polling, particularly in the "swing" or "leaning" states.

    Poll: Obama/Biden Take Eight-Point Lead (0.00 / 0)
This is for you politcalguy, I know you would love to have input from as many polls as possible.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories...

(CBS) Democratic nominee Barack Obama's lead over Republican John McCain has grown after the Democratic convention, which 71 percent of Americans say they watched. Obama and his running mate Joe Biden now lead McCain and Sarah Palin 48 percent to 40 percent, according to the latest CBS News poll.

This is the first CBS News poll to include the vice presidential candidates in the horserace question.

    Registered Voter USA Today/Gallup poll (0.00 / 0)
politicalguy loves polls, so I'm posting this for him.

In the head-to-head race between the candidates, Obama now leads 50%-43% among registered voters.

In the USA TODAY poll taken Aug. 21-23, the Illinois senator held a four-point lead.
